The March 2020 Mid-Season Masterworks concert was our last for nearly two years as the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdowns started the weekend following the concert. From 2020-2022 Judy and the Executive Committee, with recording and editing help of Arts Laureate, held the Consort together through the COVID shutdown period from 2020-2022 holding virtual audio/video performances. The Consort’s co-founding Manager, Aina Arnold, also retired in 2022 after a long career by Judy’s side. In the summer of 2022, Deke Polifka was hired as the Music Director for the Virginia Consort, Karen Dalton was hired as Manager, and Victoria Redfearn Cave was hired as the Youth Chorale Director. With our 2022-2023 season, the Virginia Consort enters its 32nd season with new Director, Deke Polifka. As long as there isn’t a funeral going on and the lot does not have a sign blocking parking, you should be good to park there. Albemarle County: Office buildings. West of church on McIntire Rd. Parking is free on the weekends. Maybe in the evenings as well? Check the signage on the lot to be sure. 6 minute walk from the church (says Google). However, the intersection at McIntire/W. Market/Preston is busy, so will depend on crossing walk signals. Be careful! Carter Center Bank: West of the church, a few blocks away at the intersection of Ridge McIntire Rd. and W. Market St. Carolers have parked here in the past. I have not seen the signage here since last year. Check before parking here. 7 minute walk from the church (says Google). Methodist Church: Marked in red because we are not allowed to park there. (We asked…) Hamiltons & Air Garage: Pay parking. There’s a sign in the lot with instructions on how to pay from your phone (ParkMobile &/or AirGarage) Market St. Garage: 7 minute walk from the church (says Google). Water St. Garage: 7 minute walk from the church (says Google). Street Parking spots on the surrounding streets. You might get lucky and find a spot close by. Or, you might choose to spend that time walking from one of the options above.
